Ford Focus RS Mass Air Flow

Ford Focus RS Mass Air Flow Sensor: This item is an OEM replacement part from Ford for the I5 2.5 turbocharged engine and manufactured by Bosch, fitting the Focus RS Mk2 A common item to fail on the I5 engine, seemingly getting contaminated easily by dirt particles or possibly by high performance air filters which are often oil or resin coated and subsequently when excess oil or resin deposits itself on the MAF cleaning it does not always resolve the problem. The MAF sensor detects the volume, temperature and density of the air passing through it via the crossover pipe via the air filter. This information is relayed to your ECU so fueling can be commanded to correct air fuel mixture. When the MAF is contaminated or faulty it may not see the correct air volume making the car either over or under fuel potentially causing lumpy idle and in extreme cases an ESP fault.
